This is a lovely way to
create whitework as it does not involve any ink and therefore
allows you to create more depth in your design. When you trace
an image in ink it immediately flattens the design and causes
it to loose depth.
By tracing the design in pencil and erasing the lines
afterwards you can create a more three dimensional effect.
This simple tutorial should help you on your way to some
beautifully embossed designs all without ink! |

Step Three
|
|
Start by tracing your design in white pencil.
I would recommend the
Pergamano white lead propelling pencil as this can be erased very
easily.

Using the fine stylus emboss the stamens as shown above.
Using the
small ball tool emboss the tops of the stamens. |
|
|
Using the extra large ball tool emboss the petals gently, concentrating
on maintaining the shape of the petals and leaving a small line of
un-embossed parchment down the centre of each petal to represent
veining. |

Practice Image
|
| Using the
large ball tool emboss the tips of the petals that represent
the lightest colours, feathering out the shading towards the
darker sections of the flower. |
|
| Using the
small ball tool emboss the very tips of the petals and add
definition to the petals by making short strokes from the edge towards
the centre. |
